This year we have celebrated our 10th year as a financial advice firm! Andy Wilson Financial Services started on 3 June 2011.
Initially, Andy began the business working alone, and advising clients on all aspects of mortgages and equity release. However, his intention was to eventually focus solely on equity release, a fast-growing area of personal finance. His plan was to then bring in another adviser to take over the mortgage work.
Andy was joined in late 2011 by his wife, Tina. They had worked together for 20 years in a local IFA practice, marrying in 2008. Tina has since handled all aspects of the office management, financial control and is also Andy’s assistant (and reality checker!).
The business grew slowly at first, from a standing start. This website was also built, aiming to provide a source of information to prospective mortgage and equity release clients. A large amount of networking, advertising and other promotion of our services also had to take place.
However, eventually the equity release advice side of the business had grown significantly. In January 2019 Andy was able to recruit a colleague to take over the mortgage advice work. This was Robert Drury, who came to us from Santander Bank. Robert also had a previous background in Building Society branch management, and as a mortgage adviser at Nat West. Robert now receives excellent testimonials for his work, and commitment to ensuring his clients enjoy the best mortgage journey possible.
As we all know only too well, Covid hit us in early 2020. This initially put the brakes on a lot of our work, as the industry locked up under meeting restrictions. Face to face meetings were prevented under Government rules. People could not easily view houses, or meet to review their mortgage or arrange equity release. However, we and the industry adapted, and we were soon back to work but with a strong emphasis on video calls with clients – what a change that was for everyone!
Coming out of lockdowns, we are now very well placed to continue our growth and we are pleased to announce the new appointment of a second mortgage adviser, Steve Taylor. Steve joins us after 17 years working with a mortgage brokerage in Melton Mowbray, but having worked in Lincoln all of that time. Prior to that he had 25-years with the Halifax as a branch manager. He will continue to service and advise his many loyal clients, from both his office in Branston and with home visits.
The three advisers all come from a banking background, having been trained in their early years by some of the biggest and best financial institutions in the UK. They have developed this training and converted it into lengthy experience of providing personal clients with the very best service and professionalism. This is built on a firm and shared belief in our stated values, which include honesty, empathy, commitment, truth and responsibility – and of course, the very important one: have fun!
We are building on our success in the delivery of sound mortgage and equity release services – if you think we may be able to help you, please make contact or book a chat using the links on our homepage.
A mortgage is a loan secured against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage or any other debt secured on it.
Equity Release may require a lifetime mortgage or Home Reversion Plan. To understand the features and risks, ask for a personalised illustration.
